Unity Set to Receive a Massive Investment

The Unity game engine is getting a much deserved investment increase. Unity is one of the more popular game engines. More companies are starting to switch to Unity due to its easy setup and design capabilities. According to James Brightman's article, from gameindustry.biz, "There are about 4 million developers with registered Unity accounts, and 30 percent of the tope 1,000 grossing mobile games are made using Unity." This ends up adding up to 300 mobile games. Brightman's article also states, "Bloomberg reports that the company is about to land a new investment that would value the company at $1.5 billion." With this $1.5 billion dollar investment, Unity could become the best game engine on the market. I think it would be a great engine for more companies to use. Even Unity's competitors are trying to use some of Unity's features. Unity is opening up new doorways with the latest gaming technology. According to Brightman, "Unity is definitely taking a leadership position on VR." He also states, "16 of the inital 30 games available for the Oculus Rift were built with Unity and the company seems to have a stranglehold on mobile VR as 90 percent of the games made for Gear VR are Unity-based as well."
